A Little Less Conversation

Elvis only recorded four songs for the 1968 movie Live a Little, Love a Little. One song, “A Little Less Conversation,” was recorded at Western Recorders in Hollywood, California on March 7 and released as a single with “Almost in Love” on the other side. Presley re-recorded the song for the soundtrack of Elvis Presley’s ‘68 Comeback Special. The second version was done in a different key and the backup vocalists were The Blossoms. The song was later dropped from the special and the album.

Over thirty years later, “A Little Less Conversation” was featured in the 2001 movie Ocean’s Eleven. The song was then remixed by a Dutch performer, Junkie XL. He lowered Presley’s voice and intensified the guitars, horns, and drum beats. This musician was the first to gain permission from Elvis’ estate to remix a song. The remixed version reached number one in the UK and at least 10 other countries.

The following year, the remixed version of Elvis’ hit was used as background music in several commercials for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. This time, the single, credited to Elvis vs. JXL, soared to number one in over 20 countries. In the US, the song was listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was the first Presley hit since 1981, proving his music is timeless.
