UN139-40 – 1965 United Nations Forces in Cyprus

In 1964, the United Nations sent a peace-keeping force to the island. Fighting had broken out between Greek and Turkish Cypriots.  The U.N. force helped keep the peace, supervised the cease-fire, and contributed to the maintenance of law and order and a return to normal conditions in Cyprus.
