This stamp shows where the first session of the General Assembly was held in Central Hall, Westminster, London, in 1946.  During this session it was decided to accept a gift of $8.5 million from John D. Rockefeller Jr. and buy land along the East River in New York City for a permanent U.N. headquarters.
